Ray Emodi Quits Nollywood For Music

Nollywood actor Ray Emodi has taken a bold step in his career, announcing that he is leaving acting to fully dedicate himself to music.

 In a series of candid posts on his official Instagram account on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Emodi explained that personal, family, and health considerations played a major role in his decision.

Reflecting on his time in the film industry, Emodi shared some of the challenges he faced while shooting across Nigeria. 

One particular experience stood out, during which gunshots could be heard in a neighboring town while he and his crew were filming.

“I have stopped acting in films. I quit. There was a time I never thought I would say that sentence for a short period of time, but I won’t lie,” Emodi wrote, revealing the weight of his decision.

The actor also spoke about the physical and emotional demands of his career.

“I have put in a lot of work in Nollywood. I shot a film in a town that I won’t mention, but we were literally hearing gunshots.

There was like a craziness going on in the town next to our town, and we were still shooting,” he recounted.

Family considerations also influenced Emodi’s choice.

“This is a decision that has come with a lot of consequences. My family does not support this. It is a family with strict rules and a reputation to protect, which is understandable, and I respect them,” he said.

“I respect their decision, and I won’t do anything that would bring any stain to the name.”

Despite the obstacles, Emodi expressed excitement about his next chapter in music.

“I love music. I have always loved music. I make good music. I want you guys to come with me on this journey,” he shared.

“I love every single Nollywood fan, and I am not leaving you. I am just going to make music.”

This transition marks a significant turning point in Emodi’s life. While his fans will undoubtedly miss his on-screen performances, his new focus on music promises to showcase another side of his talent, where passion and creativity take the lead.
