Nigerian media personality Abisoye Olukoya Michael, widely known as Oyemykke, has set social media ablaze after reacting strongly to comments made by Nollywood icon Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde during a recent interview.
The award-winning actress, famously nicknamed Omosexy, revealed that she once received a car from a male admirer while married. According to her, her husband was completely unbothered by the gesture. She explained that he is confident and had no issue with her accepting the luxury gift.
The revelation quickly went viral, but Oyemykke was not impressed.
Taking to Instagram, the outspoken commentator shared a passionate video expressing his disagreement. While he made it clear that he respects Omotola, he insisted he would never allow such in his own relationship. “I am an insecure person and I believe nothing truly comes free in today’s world,” he stated bluntly.
Oyemykke argued that context matters. He noted that receiving gifts from family members or close associates is understandable.
However, accepting a high-value present like a car from a complete stranger especially a male admirer raises red flags. In the clip, he also challenged his audience, asking how they would react if faced with a similar situation in their marriage.
The controversy has since divided fans and followers. Some agree with Oyemykke’s stance, saying marriage requires firm boundaries and transparency. Others defend Omotola’s position, pointing out that trust and confidence are essential pillars of a healthy union.
A few commenters even suggested that since the admirer’s identity was never disclosed, it could simply have been a harmless gesture from a loyal fan.
