The escalating social media battle between Very Dark Man (VDM) and socialite King Mitchy (Mukoro Michelle) has taken a dramatic turn after the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, publicly denied ever exchanging WhatsApp messages with the influencer.
The feud, which initially started over school renovation projects and money disputes, reached a fever pitch when King Mitchy shared screenshots of a purported chat with the Ooni, suggesting he praised her social media activities. VDM quickly jumped on the revelation, criticizing the monarch for allegedly “bowing” to the socialite online while he himself shows respect to the Ooni in person.
However, the palace has now addressed the claims. Oba Omotoyosi Bayo Akinyele, acting as a palace spokesperson, revealed via X that he spoke directly with the Ooni regarding the alleged chat. The monarch reportedly described the claims as false and misleading, cautioning the public against engaging with King Mitchy over the issue.
The announcement has stirred more controversy than it quelled. Social media users, already divided over the VDM-King Mitchy saga, flooded platforms with debates, memes, and heated commentary. Many questioned the authenticity of the WhatsApp screenshots, while others criticized both VDM and King Mitchy for turning a private matter into a viral spectacle.
VDM’s earlier statements, where he contrasted the Ooni with other traditional rulers like Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, have resurfaced, adding fuel to the fire. The feud, which had already garnered attention from celebrities and online personalities, continues to dominate timelines, highlighting the growing tension between influencers and traditional authorities in Nigeria.
As the drama unfolds, all eyes remain on social media to see whether King Mitchy will respond to the Ooni’s denial, or if VDM will escalate his criticism further.
