Reports confirmed that Okemesi died at about 11:50 a.m. in a hospital where he had been receiving treatment. According to close sources, the actor had slipped into a coma shortly before his passing, reportedly due to complications arising from medications administered during his hospital stay. Despite efforts by medical personnel to stabilise him, he did not recover.

The heartbreaking news was officially announced in an emotional video shared on Instagram by fellow actor Tony Montana Jeff, who disclosed that Okemesi’s body had been deposited at a morgue. His announcement triggered an outpouring of grief across social media, as fans and colleagues struggled to come to terms with the sudden loss.

“With a heavy heart, I’m announcing to the world that Okemesi is dead. The doctor pronounced him dead at exactly 11:50 a.m. this morning, February 24, 2026. Okemesi is gone,” Tony Montana said in the video.

He continued, “So, on behalf of the entire Bamidele family, I’m announcing to the world that Oluwatope Bamidele Saint Okemesi is dead. We have taken the body to the morgue. I will communicate the rest of the arrangements to you guys. We appreciate every one of you who turned up for him. May God forgive Okemesi and rest his soul.”

The late actor was widely known for his unique comic timing, energetic screen presence, and ability to effortlessly bring humour into every role he played. Over the years, Okemesi built a loyal fan base, particularly within the Yoruba segment of Nollywood, where his performances consistently stood out.

His career spanned several years, during which he featured in numerous movies, skits, and stage productions. Okemesi became a familiar face in homes across Nigeria, often portraying witty, mischievous, and relatable characters that resonated with audiences of all ages. His natural comedic flair and expressive delivery made him a favourite among producers and directors.

Beyond his on-screen persona, colleagues have described him as a humble, cheerful, and supportive individual who was deeply passionate about his craft. Many have taken to social media to share personal memories, tributes, and condolences, highlighting his kindness, dedication, and unwavering commitment to entertainment.

The circumstances surrounding his death have further intensified the shock, as reports suggest that he had only spent a short time in a coma before he passed. This has raised concerns and prompted calls for greater awareness around medical care, drug administration, and emergency response, especially within the creative community.

As news of his demise spread, fans flooded social media platforms with emotional messages, prayers, and throwback clips from his movies, celebrating the laughter and joy he brought into their lives. Several Nollywood actors and actresses also expressed their grief, describing the loss as a painful blow to the industry.

While details of his burial arrangements are yet to be officially announced, Tony Montana Jeff assured the public that further information would be communicated in due course by the family.
