Nollywood actor Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, has made history with a remarkable achievement on YouTube.

The award-winning actor announced via his Instagram page that his movie Koleoso has surpassed 100 million views on the platform.

According to Itele, Koleoso is the first Nollywood film and indeed the first African movie to reach this milestone with a single title, cementing his place in the annals of African cinema.

In his celebratory post, Itele proudly stated, “HISTORY. RECORD. LEGACY. KOLEOSO HITS 100 MILLION + VIEWS… From day zero, we won this. Let this be known that I, Ibrahim Yekini Bakare (Itele), am the FIRST to pull this stunt in the history of Nollywood.”

He acknowledged the role of his fans, family, and production team in achieving this landmark, emphasizing the collective effort behind the success.

The actor highlighted the significance of this milestone not only for himself but for the entire Nigerian entertainment industry. “This is a WIN FOR NOLLYWOOD. This is a WIN FOR AFRICA. A win for THE CULTURE. A win for THE YORUBAS. A win for NIGERIA,” he wrote, underscoring how Koleoso has become a symbol of Nigerian storytelling and cinematic excellence.

Itele’s journey to this historic moment has been marked by perseverance and resilience. In interviews, he has shared the challenges he faced before fame, including personal struggles and financial hardships in Bauchi village.

He credited mentors such as Femi Adebayo and supporters like “Papa T” for guiding him through difficult times, helping him rise to prominence in Nollywood.

Over the past few years, Itele has earned multiple accolades, including a double award in 2023 for Best Actor of the Year and Best Director of the Year, surpassing seasoned colleagues like Afeez Owo and Kolawole Ajeyemi.

His work has also been recognized for its societal impact and mentorship, reflecting his commitment to uplifting young talent in the industry.

Koleoso’s success on YouTube also reflects the growing influence of digital platforms in Nollywood. With millions of views and a dedicated fan base, the film demonstrates how online distribution can amplify the reach of African cinema globally.

Itele’s historic achievement is not just a personal victory but a celebration of Nigerian creativity, culture, and the global potential of Nollywood films.

As the first African movie to hit 100 million views on YouTube, Koleoso has set a new benchmark, inspiring actors, producers, and filmmakers to push boundaries and aim for global recognition.
