Nollywood actress Dakore Akande has opened up about the emotional experience of laying her father to rest, sharing intimate photos from his burial ceremony on her Instagram page.
Earlier this year, her brother, Timini Egbuson, had announced the passing of their father and shared that the family held a low-key farewell, attended only by close relatives.
In her post, Dakore revealed she is still coming to terms with the harsh reality of losing her father but finds comfort in her faith, believing they will reunite at God’s appointed time.
The actress detailed the ceremony, noting that she and her siblings wore white and blue, her father’s favorite colors, to honor his memory. She also prepared a playlist of some of his favorite songs, which they celebrated through dance during the reception.
Dakore recounted that two services were held on the same day: one in Austin, Texas, where her father lived for many years, and another in Lagos, Nigeria, where he had made his name and career.
She expressed gratitude for the support from fans and friends, acknowledging the prayers and heartfelt messages that helped her family through the difficult period.
The actress also reflected on her father’s legacy, praising the values he instilled in his children, from a love for music to maintaining style and grace in life. While the loss has been painful, she emphasized the joy in remembering the laughter and lessons he shared.
Earlier this year, several Nigerian celebrities also mourned the loss of parents, including comedian Alibaba, BBNaija star Liquorose, and actress Lizzy Gold.
