Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has broken her silence following the tense period of detention and public speculation surrounding her legal troubles. She took to Instagram to assure her followers that she would speak to them soon, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support she received during the ordeal.
“I will speak to my fans and families tomorrow!! God bless each and every one of you who showed me love. You all are amazing. Thank you,” she wrote, putting an end to the uncertainty for many who have been following her case closely.
Okorie’s troubles began on Wednesday, January 28, when the Nigeria Police Force Cybercrime Unit reportedly arrested her at her residence in Lagos. The arrest was in connection with allegations of cybercrime involving fellow actress Mercy Johnson.
Following the arrest, Okorie was detained at Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State. Her initial detention sparked widespread discussions online, with fans and colleagues alike
expressing concern about her well-being.
Complications arose when reports surfaced that she had been rearrested by the FCT Police Command on February 3.
According to these claims, she was whisked away to the police headquarters in Abuja over a petition filed against her. Actress Doris Ogala fueled the speculation further by alleging that the reason for the alleged rearrest was unpaid legal fees owed to a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who had helped secure her initial bail.
Despite the rumors, Okorie has firmly denied any re-arrest, clarifying that she remains in legal compliance.
On Tuesday evening, the FCT Police officially granted her bail, allowing her to prepare to visit the police headquarters on February 4 as required. The conflicting reports of her alleged rearrest created a storm of speculation online, with fans debating the true circumstances of her detention.
