Actress Lilian Afegbai has opened up about why she chooses to keep her romantic relationships away from friends and the public eye, saying experience has taught her the value of privacy.
In a recent interview, the Nollywood star revealed that she does not discuss her relationships with friends, stressing that her decision is rooted in trust issues shaped by past encounters.
According to her, she has learned to be more guarded about her personal life and no longer feels the need to make her intimate affairs a topic of public conversation.
“I don’t discuss my relationships with friends,” she said, explaining that not everyone deserves access to the sensitive details of her love life. For Afegbai, protecting what matters most has become a personal rule. Rather than seek validation or advice from different quarters, she prefers to handle her emotional affairs privately and carefully.
The actress noted that over time, she realised that oversharing can sometimes do more harm than good. She believes that relationships thrive better when they are nurtured away from external opinions and interference. By maintaining boundaries, she is able to safeguard her peace and focus on building something meaningful without unnecessary pressure.
Afegbai first gained national attention when she represented Nigeria at the 2014 edition of Big Brother Africa. Her appearance on the continental reality show introduced her to a wider audience and opened doors in the entertainment industry.
