Veteran Nollywood actress Bukky Wright has opened up on how the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rasheed Ladoja, played a crucial role in shaping her early acting career, revealing that he helped her secure her first major role in the classic Yoruba film Saworo Ide.

The actress shared the revelation on Sunday, February 8, 2026, via her Instagram page, where she posted a video of herself with the traditional ruler.

In the caption accompanying the post, Bukky Wright expressed deep gratitude to the Olubadan, whom she described as her uncle, for introducing her to Mainframe Film and Television Productions at a time when she was still finding her footing in the movie industry.

“Olubadan of Ibadan is my uncle who introduced me to Mainframe production for audition and it earned me my first major role in Saworo Ide and the rest is history. I am grateful,” she wrote.

The actress’ role in Saworo Ide marked a major turning point in her career and helped establish her as a respected name in Nollywood. Produced and directed by celebrated filmmaker Tunde Kelani under Mainframe Productions, the political drama was released in 1999 and remains one of the most influential films in Yoruba cinema.

Saworo Ide explored themes of power, tradition, corruption, and governance and featured a strong ensemble cast.

The film received widespread acclaim and is still regarded as a classic, with Bukky Wright’s performance standing out as one of the highlights that contributed to her growing popularity at the time.

Bukky Wright officially began her acting career in 1996 and gradually built her reputation through consistent performances in both Yoruba and English-language films.

Over the years, she appeared in several notable productions, including Iyore, When Love Happens, and other projects that cemented her place as a familiar and respected face in the Nigerian film industry.

Despite her success, the actress later took a break from Nollywood after relocating abroad, where she spent over a decade away from the local film scene. Her absence was widely felt by fans who had followed her career from its early days.

In recent years, Bukky Wright has made a return to Nollywood, taking on new roles and reestablishing herself in the industry. Since her comeback, she has featured in films such as Something About the Briggs and Red Circle, signaling her renewed commitment to acting and storytelling.

Her latest revelation has sparked conversations among fans and industry observers about the importance of mentorship, connections, and support systems in Nollywood, especially for upcoming actors. Bukky Wright’s story highlights how timely guidance and opportunity can change the course of a career.

As she continues to take on new projects, the actress remains a symbol of resilience and gratitude, openly acknowledging the people who contributed to her journey while celebrating the legacy of one of Nigeria’s most enduring cinematic classics.
