Nigerian Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has revealed that Burna Boy remains her number one choice for a future music collaboration, despite having worked with several top artistes across the global music scene.

The singer made this disclosure while speaking with Love Island USA star, Chelley Bissainthe, during a Billboard interview following her nomination for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

Ayra Starr described the recognition as a defining moment in her career, noting that her second Grammy nomination has given her a deeper sense of reassurance and confidence in her artistry.

“I am very grateful that I’m actually a two-time Grammy nominee. The first time I got nominated, it was like, ‘Oh my God, I got nominated,’” she said.

Reflecting on how her mindset has evolved since her first nomination, the singer explained that the latest recognition has strengthened her belief in herself and her journey as an artiste.

“But the second time, I was like maybe I need to trust God and myself a bit more,” Ayra Starr added.

The Mavin Records star further stated that while she has enjoyed collaborating with several musicians across different genres, there are still many artistes she hopes to work with in the future. However, she made it clear that Burna Boy sits at the top of her collaboration wish list.

“I have collaborated with many people, and I still want to collaborate with more people. But everyone knows Burna Boy is like my number one person I want to collaborate with,” she said.

Ayra Starr earned her most recent Grammy nomination in the Best African Music Performance category for Gimme Dat, a song she released with fellow Nigerian superstar Wizkid in April 2025. The track received widespread attention and praise, further cementing her growing influence in the global music space.

The nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards were announced in November 2025, ahead of the award ceremony scheduled to hold on February 1, 2026.

Reacting to the recognition, Ayra Starr described the nomination as a moment of reassurance in her career, explaining that it affirmed her creative direction and hard work over the years.

She noted that the acknowledgment has reinforced her belief in African music and its expanding global reach, while also motivating her to continue pushing creative boundaries.

Ayra Starr has steadily risen as one of Africa’s most influential young voices, earning international acclaim for her sound, confidence, and distinctive style. Her growing list of achievements has positioned her among the new generation of African artistes reshaping the global music industry.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy remains one of Africa’s most successful and decorated musicians internationally, with multiple global collaborations and a Grammy Award to his name. A potential collaboration between both artistes has long been anticipated by fans, who believe the fusion of their sounds could result in a powerful and chart-topping record.

For now, Ayra Starr says she remains grateful, focused, and optimistic about the future as she continues to build her legacy on the world stage.
