Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has issued a strong warning to fans and members of the public over secretly recording her and her partner during private outings.
The outspoken actress made it clear that although she understands she is a public figure, her current relationship is something she intentionally wants to keep away from social media.
According to her, she and her partner are enjoying their relationship quietly and have chosen to keep it off the internet for personal reasons.
Sharing a recent experience, Nkechi revealed that she was at a restaurant with her partner when a woman allegedly began recording them without their knowledge. A waitress reportedly alerted her to the situation, prompting the actress to approach the woman directly.
In her words, she found the act disrespectful and unnecessary. She explained that while she is used to being in the public eye, there is a difference between asking for a photo and secretly filming someone without consent. She stressed that if anyone wants a picture or video with her, they should simply walk up to her and ask, rather than recording her private moments.
Nkechi emphasized that her partner is not ashamed to be seen with her in public. However, he prefers to stay away from social media attention and avoid being dragged into online discussions or controversies.
She questioned why anyone would feel entitled to post videos or pictures of them without permission, especially when they have deliberately chosen to keep their relationship private.
The actress did not mince words as she warned that she would not tolerate such behaviour in the future. She stated categorically that the next time anyone attempts to secretly record her and her partner, she may react strongly.
Though she delivered the warning calmly, she made it clear that she takes her privacy seriously.
According to her, if she ever decides to introduce her partner to the public, it will be done on her own terms and at a time she considers appropriate. Until then, she expects people to respect their boundaries.
Her statement has since sparked reactions online, with some supporting her stance on privacy while others argue that public figures inevitably attract attention whenever they step out.
Regardless of differing opinions, Nkechi’s message was direct: being a celebrity does not erase the right to personal space. For her, fame does not mean surrendering every aspect of her private life to public consumption.
