British rapper Oakley Neil Caesar-Su, professionally known as Central Cee, has publicly announced that he has converted to Islam.
The announcement came during a recent livestream, where the “Band 4 Band” crooner revealed that he had taken his shahada, formally declaring his faith. Central Cee also shared that he had changed his name in accordance with his new religious identity.
“I just changed my name and took my shahada, I am a Muslim now,” he said, as friends and associates joined him in congratulating the rapper in the video. Prior to this revelation, Central Cee had not explicitly declared any formal religious affiliation, making the announcement a notable development in his personal life.
Born on June 4, 1998, in London, Central Cee comes from a diverse heritage, with an English mother and a father of Guyanese and Chinese ancestry.
His parents separated when he was seven, and he grew up in Shepherd’s Bush with his mother and two younger brothers. His upbringing in London’s vibrant urban culture played a pivotal role in shaping both his worldview and his music career.
