Nollywood actress Biola Bayo has taken to social media to remember her late mother and address critics amid her ongoing personal challenges. The actress shared an emotional post on her Instagram page, marking one year since her mother’s passing.

In the post, Biola reflected on her journey as an orphan and a single mother, responding to those who have criticised her for not helping others. She explained that her current circumstances are not by choice but what life has handed her, and she is carrying her burdens with grace and faith.

“I can’t believe I’ve been motherless for a whole year. It is well!

Before you insult me or hate me for not being able to help, remember I’m an orphan and a single mom too, not what I want or envisage, but what life throws at me, and I’m gracefully carrying my cross knowing fully well that GOD will never leave nor forsake, he will never leave me comfortless.

I KNOW AND I KNOW IT WELL, AS LONG AS GOD LIVES, I CAN NEVER BE STRANDED!

Continue to rest in peace, dear mother,” she wrote.

Biola also used the post to express how much she and her family miss her mother, especially on her posthumous birthday. Despite the pain of her absence, the actress affirmed her faith, expressing hope that her mother rests in a better place and that God continues to guide her through life’s challenges.

Her heartfelt message comes amid a string of similar losses in Nollywood. Last year, actress Lizzy Gold mourned her father, lamenting that it wasn’t the family’s plan for him to pass before the New Year. Actor Odunlade Adekola also shared the sad news of his father, Pastor N.A. Adekola, posting a tribute alongside a photo and wishing him eternal rest.

Other actors and actresses have publicly mourned the passing of close family members. Yoruba actor Adekola Tijani lost his mother and shared a candlelight photo, questioning God over the loss. Meanwhile, actress Nuella Njubigbo announced her father’s death with a candlelight post, praying for him to rest in peace.

Prominent actress Ini Edo also lost her father, whom she described as her greatest cheerleader. She called him her beloved father and first love, promising that he would forever remain in her heart. Comedian and actor Woli Arole mourned his father as well, describing him as his hero and role model. He noted that his father left a lasting legacy through him and expressed gratitude for spending his final moments together.

Biola Bayo’s post underscores the challenges faced by many in balancing personal grief, family responsibilities, and public scrutiny. Through her message, she reaffirmed her faith, resilience, and commitment to carrying her burdens gracefully while keeping the memory of her mother alive.

Her candid reflection has resonated with fans and colleagues alike, highlighting both the emotional and spiritual strength required to navigate personal loss while maintaining a public profile.
