Nigerian actor and content creator Bamidele Tope Saint, popularly known as Okemesi, has made an emotional appeal for assistance after alleging that a spiritual attack disrupted his life, career and health, leaving him homeless and struggling to survive.
The actor shared his ordeal on Thursday during an interview with fellow actor Tony Montana, a conversation that has since drawn concern from colleagues and fans alike. Okemesi, who has been noticeably absent from the screen for nearly a year, revealed that his disappearance was due to a prolonged health and spiritual crisis that nearly claimed his life.
According to him, the experience began suddenly and severely affected his mobility, eventually leaving him paralysed. As his condition worsened, he said he found himself unable to fend for himself, losing both stability and shelter in the process.
Tony Montana, visibly moved during the interview, expressed sadness over Okemesi’s current condition and how drastically his appearance had changed.
“I’m very sad seeing you in this condition. It is difficult for people, including your fans, to recognise you. What happened to you?” Montana asked.
Responding, Okemesi attributed his ordeal to what he described as a spiritual attack, adding that the experience completely altered the course of his life.
“It was a spiritual attack. May God protect us from spiritual arrows,” he said.
He explained that he was initially taken to Island Hospital, where kind-hearted individuals contributed money to help cover his medical bills. However, his health continued to deteriorate, leading those around him to suspect that the issue went beyond medical treatment.
“I was taken to Island Hospital, and people donated to foot my bills. But we realised it was beyond the hospital when my condition worsened. That was when the people with me searched for my relatives’ numbers on my phone,” Okemesi recounted.
According to the actor, his elder brother, who resides in Osogbo, was eventually contacted and intervened.
“My senior brother in Osogbo asked them to bring me to him. He picked me up from the motor park and took me directly to an Islamic cleric for a solution,” he said.
Okemesi described the situation as extremely serious, noting that at a point, he could neither speak nor stand. He said his condition improved only after prayers and what he described as spiritual intervention.
“It was a serious attack. I became crippled. It was the prayers from people and God’s miracles that revived me. I couldn’t talk or stand. I began to walk with crutches a few hours after the Alfa gave me some spiritual items to use the same day I arrived,” he stated.
However, the challenges did not end there. Okemesi revealed that shortly after leaving the cleric’s place to stay with his brother for recovery, misfortune struck again.
“My brother was also attacked after I left the cleric’s place to stay with him for proper care. He was involved in an accident and also had a marital crisis with his wife,” he said.
Due to these developments, Okemesi said he could no longer remain in his brother’s home and was forced to leave. He disclosed that he began staying on church premises, a situation that further exposed the depth of his hardship.
“I had to leave his place and started staying on church premises. I don’t have a place to sleep, I don’t have anything. In fact, it’s difficult to feed,” he said.
In a heartfelt plea, the actor appealed directly to his fans and well-wishers, describing them as his last source of hope.
“My fans, you are the only thing left for me. Please, I need your help to get back on my feet, especially with accommodation,” Okemesi added.
The actor’s story has sparked conversations online about the welfare of entertainers, the lack of safety nets in the creative industry, and the need for better support systems for artists facing health or personal crises.
