DJ Tunez, the personal disc jockey to Nigerian music star Wizkid, has dismissed claims that there is a deep-rooted feud between his boss and fellow Afrobeats heavyweight, Davido, describing the perceived rivalry as largely exaggerated by social media narratives.
Speaking during a recent appearance on the Moni Talks podcast, DJ Tunez insisted that Wizkid holds no animosity towards Davido and, in fact, has genuine affection for the 30BG boss. '
According to him, the idea of tension between the two superstars is far removed from the reality behind the scenes.
“Wizkid has big love for Davido,” Tunez said. “I am just hoping we could go on tour together – Starboy and 30BG. That is all we need right now.”
The DJ noted that a joint tour involving Wizkid and Davido would be monumental for Afrobeats, stressing that unity among top Nigerian artists would further elevate the genre on the global stage.
He added that fans often misinterpret online exchanges and silence between artistes as hostility, when in many cases there is mutual respect.
DJ Tunez explained that both Wizkid and Davido have, at different times, expressed interest in working together, including the possibility of embarking on a joint tour.
He described such collaboration as something that would energise fans across Africa and beyond, while also strengthening the Afrobeats movement internationally.
Wizkid has previously hinted at the possibility of touring with Davido, sparking excitement among fans of both camps. Davido has also, on separate occasions, publicly stated his readiness to tour with Wizkid, suggesting that the door has always remained open for collaboration between the two stars.
Despite this, fans have continued to fuel speculation of a feud, often citing their lack of musical collaborations, contrasting personalities, and occasional indirect comments online. Over the years, both fanbases have engaged in heated debates, further amplifying the perception of rivalry between the artistes.
However, DJ Tunez maintained that such narratives are mostly driven by online hype rather than real-life conflict.
He stressed that competition in the music industry does not necessarily translate to personal dislike, especially among artists who have contributed significantly to putting Nigerian music on the world map.
Afrobeats has enjoyed unprecedented global success in recent years, with Wizkid and Davido among its most influential ambassadors.
Wizkid made history with international hits and major collaborations, while Davido has consistently dominated charts and sold out major venues worldwide.
Industry observers believe that a joint tour or collaboration between the two could be one of the biggest moments in African music history, potentially breaking records and uniting fans across divides.
For now, DJ Tunez’s comments appear to have offered reassurance to fans hoping to see both artistes share the same stage someday.
While no official plans have been announced, his remarks suggest that the long-rumoured feud may be more fiction than fact, leaving room for optimism about future collaboration between Starboy and 30BG.
