Popular Nigerian social media critic and influencer, VeryDarkMan, widely known as VDM, has broken his silence after reality television star Phyna accused him of contributing to the breakdown of her relationship with Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo.
The controversy began after Phyna publicly claimed that her association with VeryDarkMan negatively affected her bond with Iyabo Ojo. In the process, she reportedly referred to the influencer as a “Very Dirty Boy,” a remark that quickly sparked reactions across social media platforms.
In response, VeryDarkMan released a detailed public statement expressing disappointment over the allegations. He maintained that his involvement with Phyna had always been rooted in sincere support and goodwill, insisting that he never acted with any hidden agenda or malicious intent.
According to the influencer, he consistently showed up for the former Big Brother Naija winner during different stages of her career. He noted that he regularly reposted promotional materials for her movies and projects, helping to amplify her work to his large online audience without requesting compensation.
VDM explained that beyond social media promotion, he also offered Phyna personal and professional guidance whenever she reached out. He claimed he made himself available for conversations about her career direction, brand deals and even sensitive family matters, often serving as a listening ear during challenging moments.
The social media critic stressed that his support extended beyond business interests. He said he never demanded payment or favours in exchange for his assistance, adding that his actions were driven by loyalty and a genuine desire to see Phyna succeed in the entertainment industry.
Questioning the basis of her accusations, VeryDarkMan asked what he personally gained from standing by her over the years. He argued that if his intentions were selfish, there would be clear benefits to point to, which he said was not the case.
Reflecting on the fallout, the influencer hinted that certain decisions and what he described as greed may have contributed to the strain in their relationship. He alleged that several individuals who once supported and promoted Phyna have since distanced themselves, particularly as public interest around her career appeared to wane.
VDM suggested that the decline in attention and support did not happen overnight but was a gradual process influenced by choices made along the way. He maintained that blaming him for her fractured relationship with Iyabo Ojo was unfair and failed to address the bigger picture.
Despite the harsh words and public criticism directed at him, VeryDarkMan concluded his response on a calm and conciliatory note. He stated clearly that he holds no grudge against Phyna and harbours no ill feelings over the comments made about him.
The influencer added that he genuinely wishes the reality TV star success in her future endeavours, expressing hope that she finds peace and clarity moving forward. He also reiterated that he has moved on from the situation, choosing not to dwell on bitterness or resentment.
As reactions continue to trail the exchange, the public disagreement has once again highlighted the fragile nature of relationships in the entertainment industry, especially when personal ties intersect with fame, influence and public opinion.
