Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has opened up about the realities of parenting, admitting that raising children especially during the holiday season can be overwhelming.

Taking to her Instagram page, the actress shared a video of herself spending time with one of her sons as she reflected on the pressures that come with parenting.

In the post, Laide questioned how other parents have been coping during the long holiday break, describing the period as exhausting and demanding.

While wishing her followers a Happy New Year, the actress shared a short but striking message, stating that “too much of everything is bad.”

Her statement appeared to reflect the emotional and physical stress many parents experience while trying to balance family time, discipline, and personal space during extended holidays.

“How is parenting over there during this holiday season? Happy 2026, good people,” she wrote.

Laide Bakare’s post quickly resonated with many parents online, sparking conversations about the challenges of raising children in today’s fast-paced world. Several fans flooded her comment section, sharing similar experiences and offering words of encouragement.

Her comments also brought back memories of similar confessions from other Nollywood actresses who have openly spoken about the struggles of motherhood.

Actress Mercy Johnson, for instance, had previously shared her own experience of parenting four children during the holidays.

In a light-hearted video posted online, Mercy admitted that the holiday period had been extremely tiring for her, revealing that she had shouted at her children several times out of exhaustion. She jokingly prayed for schools to reopen, while asking other mothers how they were coping.

Filmmaker and actress Mary Njoku has also been vocal about the realities of parenting. In one of her posts, Mary confessed that she sometimes feels clueless about raising her three children.

She admitted losing sleep while wondering how her mother managed to raise eight children and still remain sane. According to her, parenting can feel overwhelming, especially when expectations clash with reality.

In another post, Mary described parenting as a “real jungle,” explaining that one can feel confident one moment and completely lost the next. She noted that children constantly test a parent’s patience and that unconditional love what she described as agape love is essential to survive the journey.

Laide Bakare’s parenting struggles have also reignited discussions about her past controversial remarks. Last year, the actress faced heavy backlash after revealing in an interview that she introduced her daughter to clubbing at the age of 17.

The revelation sparked outrage online, with many social media users criticizing her parenting choices.

Reacting to the backlash at the time, Laide clarified that she did not introduce her daughter to alcohol but only took her to a club to give her some exposure.

She explained that her intention was not harmful and insisted that she is not as irresponsible as critics made her out to be. In a follow-up post, she further stressed that both she and her daughter were innocent and that alcohol was never involved.

Laide Bakare’s recent confession once again highlights the emotional toll of parenting and the ongoing conversation about motherhood, balance, and expectations in modern society.
