Big Brother Naija reality TV star and media personality, Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has expressed deep frustration over the renewed impeachment process initiated against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
According to reports making the rounds, the Rivers State House of Assembly on January 8, 2026, commenced fresh impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara. The development has reignited political tension in the oil-rich state and is believed to be connected to the lingering power struggle that began in 2023 between the governor and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, who currently serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Reacting to the situation, Tacha took to social media to voice her displeasure, describing the unfolding drama as “tiring” and “unnecessary” at a time when citizens are grappling with economic hardship and insecurity. The reality TV star questioned why political leaders seem more interested in power tussles rather than focusing on governance and the welfare of the people.
She stressed that Rivers residents deserve stability, development, and good governance, not continuous political distractions. Tacha also noted that the repeated impeachment attempts are creating uncertainty and slowing down progress in the state, urging political stakeholders to “put the people first.”
The ongoing crisis between Governor Fubara and his former political ally, Wike, has remained one of the most talked-about political feuds in Nigeria. Despite several reconciliation efforts, the rift appears far from resolved, with the latest impeachment move further deepening divisions within the state’s political structure.
