Popular lifestyle influencer and entrepreneur Ivy Ifeoma Okoye, wife of Nigerian music star Paul Okoye (Rudeboy), has stirred reactions online after publicly sharing her frustration over her husband’s unexpected cancellation of a planned family outing.
Taking to her Instagram page, Ivy narrated how a much-anticipated family movie date was abruptly derailed, despite the plan being her husband’s idea from the onset. According to her, everyone was fully dressed and ready to leave when she realized Paul had no intention of stepping out.
Ivy revealed that when she questioned why he was still in his house clothes, his response left her stunned. The award-winning singer reportedly told her he was no longer going out and casually offered his card for them to proceed without him. The reason? Soccer.
The mother of one described Paul Okoye as a diehard football lover, jokingly praying for divine intervention to “deliver” him from his intense love for the sport. Her humorous yet relatable account quickly resonated with many women online.
Sharing the experience in her own words, Ivy wrote:
“Story time: I planned a family movie date with this man. Matter of fact, it was HIS idea. The day came, we all got ready, only for me to come upstairs from my beauty room and see him still sitting there in his house clothes. We were already late, btw (cons of being a woman). I said, ‘Why are you not dressed yet? You’re not going?’ He said, ‘I’m not going. You guys can go, take my card.’ Guess what he was doing? Watching soccer! This man can cancel plans just for soccer!!! God, ‘release asss’ from the shackles.”
Despite feeling emotional, Ivy said she held herself together as they eventually went out without him. She disclosed that they watched Behind The Scenes, noting that she struggled to keep back tears.
She further sparked debate by asking her followers whether such behavior was common among men or peculiar to her husband. Ivy humorously questioned if it could be “an Igbo man thing”, or if her own husband “came broken.”
“Does anyone else’s man do the same thing, or did mine come broken? I think it’s an Igbo man thing, or maybe not?”
The post has since generated massive reactions, with many women sharing similar experiences, while others defended Paul Okoye’s love for football.
