Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo has openly criticised certain behaviours within the movie industry, calling out colleagues she believes are undermining unity, support, and collective growth among actors and filmmakers.

Taking to her Instagram page, the Yoruba movie star addressed what she described as two troubling categories of people in the industry. According to her, some actors who willingly appear in films later become difficult or unavailable when it is time to support the producer through promotion.

Biodun expressed disappointment over such attitudes, describing them as wicked and discouraging. She stressed that no actor is above the industry or indispensable to another person’s success.

“I want to address two categories of people in my industry. First, actors who feature in movies make it difficult to support the producer when it is time for promotion. You people are not God. All you are showing is how wicked and unsupportive you can be,” she wrote.

The actress went further to criticise another group of colleagues whom she described as extremely stingy with support. According to her, genuine support does not always require personal gain, insisting that helping others grow should be natural within the creative community.

She noted that she has, on several occasions, promoted movies she did not feature in, simply because she believes that encouragement and publicity cost nothing.

“Second, some colleagues are extremely stingy with support for my full chest. I can confidently say I have promoted many movies I didn’t even feature in. I did it willingly because support costs nothing,” she stated.

Biodun attributed the reluctance of some colleagues to deeply rooted envy and hatred, saying such negative emotions make it difficult for them to celebrate the success of others.

“But some of you are so full of hate, envy, and Iwa Oshi that supporting others feels like a burden to you. You see another person’s progress as a threat instead of inspiration,” she added.

Despite her strong words, the actress also took a moment to appreciate those who consistently show up for others, whether invited or not. She praised colleagues who genuinely support one another and encouraged an end to unhealthy competition.

“To the ones who show up when asked, and those who showed up without even being asked and genuinely supported, God bless you. The sky is big enough for all of us to fly. Stop the hate. Mtcheew!!!” she concluded.

This is not the first time Biodun Okeowo has spoken out on issues affecting the entertainment industry. Just a week earlier, she criticised the tendency of people to quickly post about deaths while being slow to celebrate achievements. Reacting to the passing of Allwell Ademola, the actress lamented how condolences often travel faster than congratulations, describing the trend as disturbing.

She prayed that people’s best photographs would not be used as “RIP” images, urging society to learn to celebrate life and success while people are still alive.

Last year, the actress also made headlines after vowing to take legal action against a man who accused her of stealing a multimillion-naira property. Biodun promised to make him a scapegoat, insisting that he must provide proof of his claims.

Beyond industry-related matters, Biodun has continued to use her platform to share motivational messages. In one post, she encouraged individuals going through difficult times, reminding them that almost everyone is fighting a hidden battle. She advised people not to believe life is unfair to them alone, noting that hard times do not last forever.

The actress has also spoken about the importance of helping others wisely. Recounting an experience with a friend in the entertainment industry, she warned that constantly responding to every emotional story could one day turn a helper into a victim.

In addition, Biodun has shared parenting advice, urging parents to go beyond discipline by creating time to bond, laugh, and connect with their children. According to her, such moments play a vital role in shaping a child’s world.

In a lighter post, the actress recently shared a video of herself wearing a fake baby bump while praying for women expecting children, declaring that the year would not pass them by without joy.

Through her candid messages, Biodun Okeowo continues to spark conversations around support, empathy, and responsibility within and beyond Nollywood.
