Burial arrangements for the late gospel music icon Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, have been officially announced, sparking widespread emotions within the Nigerian gospel music community. The details of the burial programme were made public by fellow gospel singer Alayo Melody, who shared a burial flier via Instagram on Friday.
Since the announcement, fans, colleagues, and admirers across Nigeria and beyond have taken to social media to mourn the passing of the revered singer, whose music and ministry left an enduring spiritual impact. Known for her powerful vocals and deeply inspirational lyrics, Bunmi Akinnaanu (Omije Ojumi) was widely regarded as a trailblazer in contemporary gospel music.
According to the burial programme outlined on the flier, a series of commemorative activities have been scheduled to celebrate the life, legacy, and musical contributions of the late gospel minister. The burial rites will commence on Tuesday, January 20, with a service of songs scheduled to hold at the LTV 8 Ground, Ikeja, Lagos. The event is expected to attract prominent gospel artistes, church leaders, industry stakeholders, and devoted fans who wish to honour her remarkable journey in music and faith.
Later that evening, a candlelight procession will take place at 7:00 pm, offering a solemn atmosphere for prayers, reflection, and heartfelt tributes. This will be followed by a tribute and artistes’ night at 8:00 pm, where fellow gospel musicians and close associates are expected to perform and share personal memories celebrating the life and impact of Omije Ojumi.
The burial schedule further reveals that the interment service will be held on Wednesday, January 21. In accordance with the wishes of the family, the interment will be a private ceremony, restricted to family members and close associates.
