The movie achieved this remarkable feat in just 18 days of its theatrical run, raking in over ₦711 million across cinemas in the region.

Film distributor FilmOne Entertainment shared the announcement via Instagram, thanking moviegoers for their overwhelming support. “West Africa, you showed up and showed out in an Oversabi way. Oversabi Aunty tells the story of a kind-hearted but overly meddlesome aunty whose attempts to help everyone around her lead to a cascade of comedic situations, emotional revelations, and life-changing events. The film combines humour, relatable family dynamics, and moments of heartfelt reflection, making it appealing to a broad audience.

The movie gained early buzz following its advanced screening on December 18, 2025, which generated excitement ahead of its nationwide cinema release on December 19. This strategy helped build anticipation and contributed to the strong turnout during the opening week.

The cast features a blend of established and emerging talent, with performances from Mike Ezuruonye, Efe Irele, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, and several other actors adding depth and charisma to the story. The ensemble’s performances have been praised for balancing comedic timing with emotional authenticity, helping audiences connect with the characters and their journeys.

Reacting to the film’s success, Toyin Abraham expressed her heartfelt gratitude to her fans and supporters. “I may not have the perfect words, but my heart is full. Thank You, Lord and thank you to every single person watching and supporting Oversabi Aunty. I am deeply grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you,” she said.

Industry observers note that Oversabi Aunty’s rapid rise to the top of West Africa’s box office charts underscores Toyin Abraham’s growing influence in Nollywood—not just as an actress but also as a filmmaker capable of delivering commercially successful projects. Her ability to craft stories that resonate with audiences, combined with strong marketing strategies and an engaging ensemble cast, has positioned her as one of Nollywood’s most versatile talents.

The success of Oversabi Aunty also highlights the increasing appetite for homegrown comedy and family dramas that reflect local culture, relationships, and social experiences. By blending humour with relatable storytelling, Abraham has demonstrated that Nollywood filmmakers can achieve both commercial success and critical recognition.

As Oversabi Aunty continues to attract cinema-goers across West Africa, the film cements Toyin Abraham’s reputation as a multifaceted figure in the industry. Her accomplishment serves as an inspiration to aspiring filmmakers and actors, showcasing the potential of Nollywood projects to achieve major box office milestones while celebrating African culture and storytelling.
