Nollywood actress and producer Iyabo Ojo has sparked widespread conversations on social media after making a bold declaration about single motherhood, personal success, and faith, describing herself as the “President General of Single Mothers.”

The outspoken actress made the statement while reflecting on her life journey as a young single mother and how she overcame societal expectations to build a successful career and stable family.

According to Iyabo Ojo, success should not be measured by marital status but by personal growth, fulfilled children, and overall stability.

Speaking passionately, the actress dismissed stereotypes often attached to single mothers, stressing that raising successful children and achieving personal milestones are valid definitions of success.

She explained that despite facing emotional, mental, and financial challenges while raising her children alone, her life turned out better than many had predicted.

Iyabo Ojo revealed that she became a single mother at a young age and experienced moments of deep confusion, exhaustion, and uncertainty while raising her children.

She noted that parenting came with intense pressure, especially during periods when she felt overwhelmed and unsure of which path to take.

“There’s confusion in their midst. I’m the president-general of single mothers because my daughter has succeeded, my son has succeeded, and my life is better.

When you’re raising children at a young age, you almost run mad. There were times I didn’t know which road to pass. If they told me I’d be a landlady in Lekki, I’d say it was a lie. It wasn’t me, it was God,” she said.

The actress attributed her success to faith in God, resilience, and perseverance, adding that divine intervention played a major role in her journey. She emphasized that trusting God helped her push through moments when she felt lost and emotionally drained.

Iyabo Ojo also spoke about relationships and marriage, stating that both men and women make choices in marriage and that life does not end when a relationship fails.

She encouraged women to place their trust in God rather than societal expectations, insisting that personal happiness and fulfillment are more important than public approval.

“Na man go leave you, na man go marry you. Na woman go leave you, na woman go marry you. Put your faith in God and see whether God will not do it for you,” she added.

The actress further expressed admiration for responsible fathers who actively take care of their children, stating that she easily falls in love with men who prioritize their children’s welfare and remain present in their lives.

Her comments quickly generated mixed reactions online, with social media users expressing varying opinions.

While some praised her confidence, resilience, and honesty, others questioned her timing and interpretation of success, especially following her daughter’s recent marriage.

One social media user described her statement as “equal parts humour, inspiration, and subtle flex,” while others criticized her remarks, accusing her of downplaying marriage as an achievement.

Despite the differing opinions, many acknowledged that her story resonated with single parents navigating similar struggles.

Iyabo Ojo remains one of Nollywood’s most vocal and influential personalities, known for speaking openly about personal experiences, faith, and social issues.

Her latest declaration has once again placed her at the center of public discourse, reinforcing her image as a woman unafraid to challenge societal norms and redefine success on her own terms
