Nigerian rapper Mr Real has formally apologised to music icon D’banj, retracting earlier allegations he made concerning the valuation of the CREAM (Creative Reality Entertainment Arts & Music) platform and an alleged unpaid ₦20 million ambassadorial agreement.
The apology followed days of intense public scrutiny after Mr Real openly questioned the credibility of the CREAM platform and accused D’banj of failing to honour a business arrangement. His comments sparked widespread debate within the entertainment industry and on social media, drawing sharp reactions from fans and stakeholders.
In a public video statement shared online, Mr Real admitted that his earlier comments were based on a misunderstanding of the situation. He acknowledged that his interpretation of the issues surrounding the CREAM platform was flawed and expressed regret for addressing the matter publicly.
He described D’banj as a major influence in his career and appealed for forgiveness, stating that his comments were never intended to damage the veteran artiste’s reputation. Mr Real also confirmed that he had withdrawn all previous statements and would refrain from further public commentary on the issue.
The dispute initially arose after D’banj spoke publicly about the valuation of the CREAM platform, a claim that quickly gained attention and stirred conversations across the entertainment space. Mr Real later claimed he was owed ₦20 million for ambassadorial services allegedly linked to the project, a claim that was strongly disputed by D’banj’s camp.
Following the allegations, legal action was reportedly initiated against Mr Real over defamatory statements, leading to a court summons and a warning against further public remarks on the matter. Shortly after, the rapper issued his apology and signaled a willingness to resolve the issue amicably.
The incident has reignited discussions about professionalism, contract clarity, and the consequences of airing business disputes publicly in the digital age. Industry observers note that the situation serves as a reminder of the legal and reputational risks associated with unverified public accusations.
As of now, both parties appear to be moving toward a quieter resolution, with Mr Real’s apology marking a significant de-escalation in what had become a rapidly escalating controversy.
