The Lagos State Government has launched an official investigation into the tragic death of nine-month-old twin boys who reportedly passed away less than 24 hours after receiving routine immunisation. The incident has sparked widespread public concern, especially after the twins’ father shared emotional accounts of the events leading to their deaths on social media.
According to reports circulating, the Lagos State Ministry of Health has ordered a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and clarify whether the routine vaccination played any role in the tragedy. Health authorities say the outcome of the autopsy will guide further action and help address growing public anxiety surrounding childhood immunisation.
The case gained national attention after the father of the twins, Samuel Alozie, popularly known on TikTok as “Promise Samuel,” posted a series of disturbing videos online. In the clips, he showed the lifeless bodies of his twin sons placed in separate body bags, while emotionally narrating how the babies reportedly became ill shortly after receiving their injections.
In his videos, the grieving father questioned the handling of the investigation and demanded accountability from the relevant authorities. He insisted that his children were healthy prior to the immunisation and called on the Lagos State Government to ensure transparency, saying he would not be silenced until the truth is uncovered.
His emotional appeal has since triggered widespread reactions, with many Nigerians calling for a thorough and independent investigation.
Responding to the public outcry, Lagos health officials reassured residents that routine immunisation remains safe and critical for preventing life-threatening childhood diseases. They emphasized that adverse reactions to vaccines are extremely rare but stressed the importance of investigating every reported case to maintain public trust in the healthcare system.
As the postmortem process begins, the Lagos State Government has urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information. The authorities promised to release official findings once investigations are concluded, while also extending condolences to the bereaved family.
This developing story continues to fuel conversations around vaccine safety, healthcare accountability, and the need for transparent investigations when tragic incidents occur.
