Nollywood actress Ini Edo has taken time to publicly celebrate her colleagues, Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham, following their historic box-office achievements, describing them as industry titans whose dedication and strategy continue to redefine Nollywood’s cinematic success.

The celebration comes after Toyin Abraham’s 2025 movie Oversabi Aunty officially joined the prestigious billion-naira club, grossing over ₦1 billion at the Nigerian box office.

With this feat, Toyin now stands alongside Funke Akindele, whose film Behind The Scenes reportedly pulled an impressive ₦2.4 billion across West African cinemas, further cementing her dominance as one of the most bankable filmmakers in the industry.

Reacting to the milestone via her Instagram page, Ini Edo poured out heartfelt praise for both actresses, applauding their consistency, business sense, and deep understanding of the entertainment market.

According to her, watching Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham push boundaries has significantly increased her respect for them, noting that their commitment, marketing approach, and overall execution are on an entirely different level.

Ini Edo admitted that it was overly ambitious of her to attempt competing in the highly competitive December cinema season, but she followed her instincts regardless. She explained that she sacrificed her holiday period to chase an ambition, driven by her belief in trusting her gut and doing what feels right, no matter the odds.

Despite the challenges, the actress expressed pride in herself and her team, acknowledging the support and dedication of her production crew and cast members who stayed committed throughout the project.

She emphasized that the experience, though demanding, was a valuable learning curve, encouraging creatives not to shy away from taking bold steps.

In her words, the actress noted that whether one wins or loses, progress is still made, expressing optimism about trying again in 2026. She also reminded fans that her movie, A Very Dirty Christmas, is still showing in Nigerian cinemas and in the UK, urging audiences to turn up and support the film.

Her post quickly attracted reactions from colleagues and fans alike. Actress Chizzy Alichi hinted that Ini Edo would soon join the billion-naira club, while Ruth Eze praised her courage and transparency.

Chinney Love, IK Ogbonna, and Nosa Rex also joined in celebrating her efforts, flooding the comment section with words of encouragement and emojis. Toyin Abraham herself responded warmly, appreciating the recognition from her colleague.

Similarly, media mogul Mo Abudu had earlier celebrated Funke Akindele, Toyin Abraham, and Ini Edo, describing them as phenomenal women who continue to break barriers and showcase the power of female-led storytelling in Nollywood.
