The ongoing paternity controversy involving Afrobeats superstar Davido and a woman identified as Ayotomide Labinjoh has taken an unexpected turn after a Nigerian man surfaced online, claiming to be the biological father of the child at the centre of the saga.
In a video clip that has since gone viral across social media platforms, the man, who described himself as Davido’s “lookalike” and “twin,” alleged that he is the true father of Anu Adeleke. According to him, the child’s mother mistakenly assumed Davido was responsible because of their physical resemblance.
“I am Anu’s real father. I have to confess, it’s not Davido. The baby mama thought it was Davido because we look alike,” the man said in the video.
His claims immediately sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing disbelief, frustration, and amusement over the dramatic development.
Reacting to the viral clip, a social media user identified as fajunky wrote, “Sometimes you’ll ask yourself why come as a Nigerian.”
Another user, ayinke1975, cautioned against trivialising the situation, stating, “U shouldn’t joke with something as sensitive as this, please.”
suyaonthespot commented humorously, “Ni bo la tun jasi? This January too long abeg,” while dr_alwaysrozy noted, “Dem resemble sha, so I see why the girl think say na Davido.”
Other reactions included Omoolamubo, who wrote, “At times this country and the people go just make you vex to the extent you wish to see God face to face and ask why me,” and tootie0523, who dismissed the clip, saying, “Paid actor alert.”
Another commenter, toke smiles, simply asked, “Abi na true?”
The new claim comes amid an already heated dispute that began weeks ago when Anu took to Instagram to publicly request a DNA test to confirm her paternity. In her emotional post, she detailed the bullying and psychological distress she allegedly faced at school, saying classmates mocked her claims of being Davido’s daughter.
In response, Davido firmly denied being Anu’s father. The singer stated that he had conducted five DNA tests in the past, all of which reportedly returned negative results. Expressing frustration, he threatened legal action against Anu’s mother, insisting she must be held accountable for the allegations.
Hitting back, Anu accused the singer of bullying and intimidation. She claimed Davido cursed her, threatened to have her mother jailed, and publicly made disparaging remarks about her mother. According to Anu, the singer had never met her mother but still insisted he had conducted multiple DNA tests involving her.
The situation further escalated when Anu’s mother released screenshots of alleged chats between Anu and Davido. In her statement, she claimed the singer had ignored the child for years, allegedly believing he had encountered her at the GQ club in Ibadan under questionable circumstances. She also appealed to the United States State Department to liaise with officials in Lagos or Abuja to supervise an independent and transparent DNA test.
Amid the growing controversy, Davido’s father, billionaire businessman Adedeji Adeleke, stepped in to defend his son. He held a press conference where he categorically stated that Anu is not his granddaughter. He also referenced DNA tests he said were previously conducted and accused investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo of impersonating the minor online to attack Davido.
Mr Adeleke further revealed that the family was considering legal action over the alleged impersonation and online harassment.
Following his father’s intervention, Davido took to his Instagram story to publicly thank him for “clearing the air,” as the controversy continues to dominate online conversations.
With the latest claim from the self-proclaimed lookalike, the already complex DNA saga appears far from over, leaving many Nigerians questioning what twist might come next.
