Nollywood actor Timini Egbuson has been thrown into deep mourning as he begins the New Year with the heartbreaking loss of his father.
The popular actor took to his Instagram page to announce the sad news, leaving fans and colleagues shocked. In an emotional post, Timini revealed that he never imagined starting the year by saying goodbye to his father, describing the loss as one that has left so many words unsaid.
Sharing his pain, the movie star expressed his determination to continue living in a way that would make his late father proud, despite the overwhelming grief.
“Didn’t think I’ll start the year saying this. Rest in peace, Dad. So much left unsaid, but I’ll keep making you proud,” Timini wrote.
The post immediately drew an outpouring of love and condolences from fans and colleagues within and outside the Nollywood industry. Many described the loss as devastating and prayed for strength and comfort for the actor and his family during this difficult period.
Veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo expressed his sympathy, writing, “So sorry, son! May his soul rest in peace.” Actress Adesua Etomi also shared her condolences, telling Timini she was deeply sorry for his loss.
Other celebrities who reacted include Toyin Abraham, Funke Akindele, Sharon Ooja, Ruth Kadiri, Kunle Remi, Lala Akindoju, Kiki Bakare, Beverly Naya, and Gabriel Afolayan, all of whom sent prayers and comforting words to the grieving actor. Music star Tiwa Savage also joined in, praying for the peaceful rest of Timini’s father’s soul.
The massive show of support highlights the strong bond Timini shares with his colleagues and how deeply loved he is within the entertainment community.
Sadly, Timini’s loss comes amid a season of grief in Nollywood, as several stars have also lost loved ones in recent months. Just a week ago, actress Lizzy Gold announced the passing of her father, lamenting that he was meant to cross over into the New Year with them.
In recent months, actress Mercy Aigbe lost her mother, Mrs Abisola Grace Owodunni, while actor Odunlade Adekola also mourned the death of his father, Pastor N.A. Adekola.
Actress Nuella Njubigbo and Ini Edo have similarly shared painful stories of losing their fathers, while comedian and actor Woli Arole lost his father earlier this year.
These heartbreaking losses have once again drawn attention to the emotional toll grief takes, even on public figures who are often seen as strong and cheerful on screen.
As Timini navigates this painful chapter, fans continue to send prayers, urging God to grant him strength, comfort and peace. Many have also assured him that his father’s legacy will live on through him and the impact he continues to make in the Nigerian film industry.
