Nigerian businessman and tech entrepreneur Blord has stirred widespread reactions online after revealing that his company spends a staggering ₦1.1 billion on staff salaries, while also explaining why his workforce is largely made up of women.

The revelation, which quickly gained traction across social media platforms, came as Blord openly discussed his hiring philosophy and the reasoning behind his preference for female employees. According to him, the decision is not rooted in sentiment but in what he described as societal realities that influence workplace behaviour, particularly among men.

Blord argued that men are often burdened by intense social and financial pressures, including expectations to provide for extended families, maintain social status, and meet cultural demands. He believes these pressures can sometimes push men into making questionable decisions, especially in environments where large sums of money are involved.

“Men are under too much pressure from society,” Blord reportedly said.

“That pressure affects how they behave at work.”

In contrast, the businessman claimed that women generally face fewer of these external pressures, making them more dependable in handling sensitive financial responsibilities. According to him, this has translated into higher levels of integrity and accountability within his organization.

“Women handle big money with more integrity,” he added.

Blord’s comments immediately ignited intense debate online. While some supporters applauded his honesty and pointed to women’s growing reputation for diligence and trustworthiness in corporate spaces, critics accused him of stereotyping and unfairly generalizing men.

Others, however, viewed the conversation as a reflection of deeper societal issues, including economic hardship and cultural expectations placed on men in Nigeria and beyond. Some commentators noted that the discussion has reopened conversations about gender roles, workplace trust, financial accountability, and equal employment opportunities.

Despite the backlash, Blord has remained firm in his stance, emphasizing that his company’s performance and financial discipline justify his staffing approach. He insists that results, not public opinion, guide his business decisions.

The controversy continues to trend as Nigerians debate whether Blord’s views highlight uncomfortable truths or reinforce harmful stereotypes in the modern workplace.
