It is a heartbreaking moment for Rita Daniels, the mother of popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, as she has once again failed in her bid to secure a major public position—this time, the presidency of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
Rita, who was one of the most talked-about candidates in the race, contested against the current National Secretary, Abubakar Yakubu, in an election held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, to determine the successor to outgoing AGN president, Emeka Rollas.
According to multiple reports circulating online, Rita Daniels was unable to defeat her opponent, resulting in yet another disappointing loss for the actress-turned-politician.
Following the announcement, social media erupted with reactions, with many users insisting her loss was predictable. One user, sylviasylvia853, wrote, “She was never going to win when her ex-son-in-law is financing the board.”
Another commenter, blackonye2, added, “She’s not supposed to be there sef. She’s not qualified.”
Some accused political influencers and past relationships of affecting the outcome. User manarisa_1 claimed, “After breaking EPA’s heart? No, na, we already saw this coming. We knew they would never allow her win.”
Also, Emiliaakpabot commented, “There was no way she was going to win. The freebies are over.”
Others hinted at behind-the-scenes influence:

This is not Rita Daniels’ first electoral setback. In 2022, she faced public ridicule after losing the PDP House of Assembly primary election for the Aniocha South Constituency, securing just one vote from delegates.
