Former Niger Delta militant leader Asari Dokubo has publicly dismissed reports of a United States military strike in Sokoto State, describing the claims as false, misleading, and dangerous.

His reaction comes amid widespread discussions online suggesting that American forces carried out an airstrike targeting bandits in northern Nigeria.

Speaking emphatically, Dokubo argued that no bandits were harmed during the alleged operation, insisting that what occurred posed a greater threat to civilians than criminals.

“The U.S. Army strike in Sokoto did not harm any bandits.

They only dropped b0mbs in an open field, endangering the lives of innocent people.”
According to Dokubo, the reports of a full-scale U.S. military intervention are exaggerated. He clarified that what was actually deployed were surveillance drones, not combat troops or targeted strikes.
“What they actually sent to Sokoto State were drones.

This is very shameful, and I don’t believe this claim at all.”

The outspoken activist went further to challenge Nigerian authorities and the media to provide concrete evidence that any terrorists were neutralized during the alleged operation.

“I challenge anyone in Nigeria to show me even one terrorist they k!lled.”
Dokubo also addressed speculations suggesting that he or others might be intimidated by the involvement of the United States or its leadership. He dismissed such assumptions, stressing Nigeria’s sovereignty and international law.

“Do you think I’m afraid of President Donald Trump?

America cannot send troops into a sovereign nation like Nigeria; they can only collaborate with Nigerian troops.”

His comments have since ignited heated debates across social media, with Nigerians divided over the credibility of the reported U.S. strike, the effectiveness of foreign military collaborations, and the broader security challenges facing northern Nigeria.

Security analysts note that while international military cooperation, including intelligence sharing and drone surveillance, is common, direct foreign troop deployment without official government disclosure would violate diplomatic and legal protocols.

Asari Dokubo’s remarks have added another layer of controversy to the conversation, raising critical questions about transparency, civilian safety, counter-terrorism effectiveness, and the role of foreign powers in Nigeria’s internal security operations.
With no official confirmation yet detailing casualties or outcomes, the debate surrounding the alleged Sokoto strike continues to grow.
