Activist Verydarkman has revealed the full story of his private encounter with former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, following viral reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated the retired military officer as Nigeria’s next Minister of Defence.
The social commentator recounted the incident in detail, explaining how the unexpected meeting changed his perception of the respected military figure.
According to Verydarkman, the entire episode began on the 19th, when he received information that the Nigerian Army was searching for him. Initially startled, he admitted he was alarmed but maintained his composure. In his own words, “If anyone intended to harm me, they would already have done so since they knew my location.” With that mindset, he agreed to accompany the officers who came for him.
He was driven to Asokoro, where he was led into military base. Upon entering, he was shocked to see General Christopher Musa, a man he had previously criticised publicly on social media. Surprisingly, Musa dismissed everyone else and insisted on speaking to him privately.
During their one-on-one conversation, the activist said the retired CDS spoke to him respectfully and directly. “He needed my help,” Verydarkman revealed, explaining that General Musa wanted a detailed breakdown of his findings during his recent visit to Yelwata. Musa reportedly told him he was the first person courageous enough to go there with a camera at a time when others avoided the area.
After listening, Musa thanked him for the information and requested that he “share any further information” in the future. The pair even took a photograph together on June 20, 2025.
Explaining why he chose to disclose the encounter publicly, Verydarkman said he believed Musa was genuinely seeking solutions to Nigeria’s security challenges. He added that, despite the General’s removal as CDS, he found him to be a man “humble enough to seek information from anywhere,” demonstrating a sincerity he felt Nigerians should know about.
