The Edo State House of Assembly has summoned Natasha Osawaru, wife of music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face, over allegations of misconduct following a viral video of the couple in the UK.

The summons comes after videos circulated online showing an altercation that reportedly led to 2Baba being handcuffed in the UK. The Assembly has given Natasha seven days to appear before its Ethics Committee to respond to the allegations and explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against her.

Speaking during plenary, Speaker Blessing Agbebaku condemned the negative publicity surrounding the lawmaker, who represents Egor Constituency. He said her actions had unfairly dragged the reputation of the House into disrepute.

“Distinguished members, of recent, this Honourable House, with cerebral and highly educated members, have been dragged to the mud for too long by our colleague, Honourable Natasha Irobosa Osawaru. For the past week, she has been, let me use the word, trending negatively on both electronic media and social media platforms. Television stations such as TVC, Silverbird, and others,” Agbebaku said.

He added, “We want to let the public know that this House is a decent and reputable House. In Nigeria, as a whole, this House is the best House. That is the truth. But we have responsible members in this House. Intelligent members in this House. Members who know what they are doing. So the attitude or the misconduct of a member cannot drag the House to disrepute.”

The Speaker directed the House Standing Committee on Ethics and Privileges to report back within two weeks following the investigation.

The development has sparked mixed reactions online. Social media users expressed varied opinions:

One user, Chyspace1, wrote, “Nobody invited Pa Ned Nwoko for explanations.”

Mimi Wilfred commented, “Edo House of Assembly is even more responsible than the Nigerian Senate as it stands now.”

Another, 4everfavoured, questioned, “But why them no invite Pa Chinedu too?”

Mollyswts remarked, “She wants to turn our legend into a small stout.”

Sazaberg added, “She is just embarrassing Edo people.”

Zsavier_optimum_hair said, “As a senator, she should be well-behaved.”

Tolanteeno noted, “Tubaba is probably attending the hearing right beside her.”

This is not the first time tension between the couple has made headlines. In October, reports emerged that 2Baba had an altercation with his then-pregnant wife, leading to his alleged arrest. The singer later denied the incident, citing an urgent medical emergency that prevented him from attending an event and thanked fans for their support.

Further insights came from Kaka, a former staff member of 2Baba, who told Freeze that Natasha often hindered the singer’s career and exerted psychological control over him. “2Baba rarely spoke up against her in Nigeria, but while on tour abroad, he was more vocal about wanting his music and business to progress. Natasha was insecure about his success, fearing it would make him harder to control. Her behaviour was psychologically diminishing, reducing his confidence and affecting his mental state,” Kaka said. He eventually distanced himself from the couple, believing her actions impeded the singer’s career.

The incident drew more attention when 2Baba joined a live broadcast to address the dispute but left abruptly after a heated argument with Natasha, intensifying public scrutiny.
