Detty December Fest 2025 came to a vibrant close in Lagos, rounding off weeks of music, culture and celebration that once again positioned the city as a major destination for end-of-year entertainment in Africa.
The festival, which ran from December 7 to 29 at Ilubirin, unfolded across four major show dates and attracted large crowds of music lovers, creatives and tourists. Organisers described the month-long experience as a true expression of “Africa’s real summer,” bringing together global stars, homegrown talent and immersive performances.
The grand finale delivered electrifying performances from international acts Busta Rhymes and Gunna, alongside a strong lineup of African superstars including Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Shenseea, Phyno, Fave, Juma Jux, Qing Madi and Diamond Platnumz. Their appearances capped off what many attendees described as one of the most exciting Detty December experiences in recent years.
The festival officially kicked off on December 7 with a visually striking opening night that featured aerial ballerinas, theatrical choreography and high-energy stage design. That opening spectacle set the tone for the weeks that followed, blending performance art with music in a way that elevated the overall experience.
Opening night also featured performances from some of Nigeria’s most celebrated acts, including Wande Coal, Young Jonn, Ice Prince, Darey, Fola, Shoday and Jerry Shaffer, who delivered crowd-pleasing sets that reflected the diversity of contemporary Nigerian sound.
Beyond entertainment, Detty December Fest 2025 enjoyed institutional support through a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Art and Culture. The Minister, Hannatu Musa Musawa, praised the festival for its contribution to Nigeria’s cultural development and growing influence on global creative conversations. She noted that events of this scale play a key role in boosting tourism during the holiday season and projecting Nigerian culture to international audiences.
Reflecting on the success of this year’s edition, Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Livespot360, Deola Art Alade, said the strong turnout and energy from attendees affirmed the festival’s expanding relevance.
“This year showed that the appetite for Detty December Fest is real. Ilubirin proved Lagos is ready for a world-class December experience, and this is only the beginning,” she said.
Co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, Darey Art Alade, also shared his thoughts on the vision behind the festival, explaining that authenticity and cultural expression were central to its design.
“We set out to create a festival that feels true to Lagos — fresh and exciting. The response from the artists and fans tells us we got it right,” he said.
Over the years, Detty December Fest has evolved into more than just a concert series. It has become a cultural movement that blends music, fashion, tourism and nightlife into a unified celebration that attracts both locals and visitors from across the globe. The 2025 edition further strengthened this reputation by combining world-class production with a diverse lineup that cut across genres and regions.
With international headliners sharing the stage with Africa’s finest talents, the festival showcased the continent’s growing influence in the global entertainment space. The consistent turnout and high-profile participation also highlighted Lagos’ capacity to host large-scale events that meet international standards.
As the curtains close on the 2025 edition, Detty December Fest has once again raised the bar for live entertainment in Nigeria. Its success reinforces the city’s status as a cultural powerhouse and underscores the economic and creative impact of December festivities on Lagos’ tourism ecosystem.
Organisers say the momentum built this year sets the stage for even bigger editions ahead, as Detty December continues to shape how Africa celebrates music, culture and community at the close of every year.
