Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has praised his team’s performance against Tunisia, even as Nigeria let in two late goals in a 3-2 win during their second 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match.

The Eagles appeared in control for most of the game, with Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, and Ademola Lookman scoring to give Nigeria a strong lead. However, the team struggled in the final 15 minutes, conceding twice and making the match tighter than expected.

At the post-match press conference, Chelle acknowledged that while he dreams of a side capable of sustaining high-pressure football throughout, it remains unrealistic.

“The reality is, we deserve this win. At the end of the halftime we have 70 percent of the possession,” he said.

“Until the 75th minute, we were the best team on the pitch. So I am very proud and happy for my players. We have to improve for the last 15 minutes. But, for sure, it is impossible to do high pressure on the pitch for full 90 minutes. It is impossible. My vision and dream is to have a team that can do that, but it is impossible.”

With this victory, Nigeria tops Group C with six points and has booked a place in the second round. The Eagles will face Uganda in their final group-stage match on Tuesday.
