Martha Ehinome, widely celebrated for her breakout role as Tumi in the Showmax series Wura, has taken a bold step into filmmaking with the production and financing of her debut film, Man of Her Dreams.
This marks the inaugural project of her newly established production company, ME & Co., with Ehinome serving as both executive producer and financier.
The venture underscores her commitment to telling compelling Nigerian stories while asserting creative control over her work.
Currently in post-production, Man of Her Dreams is directed by Moses Ipadeola, whose prior work, including Ekun Iyawo: A Tale of a Runaway Bride, has been featured at several film festivals. The film follows Naya, a woman in her late twenties whose deep yearning for love draws her to Kene, a man who seems perfect until unsettling truths emerge, blurring the lines between affection, sanity, and reality.
Co-written by Ehinome and Gbolahan Akitunde, the film delves into themes of emotional truth, personal choice, and the complexity of desire.
The project benefits from a skilled technical team. Emmanuel Izuoba joins Ehinome as a producer, while cinematographer Fadamana Okwong, known for The Artifact and In Ibadan, crafts the visual narrative.
Art direction by Joy Kadiri, whose work includes Gangs of Lagos and Christmas in Lagos, shapes the film’s aesthetic, blending realism with cinematic flair to complement the story’s psychological depth.
The cast combines seasoned actors with emerging talent. Ehinome leads alongside Vine Olugu, Ireti Doyle, Rhoda Albert, Gbubemi Ejeye, and Tosin Adeyemi, who together explore the film’s intricate emotional layers.
Each performer brings nuance to their roles, highlighting the psychological and relational complexities central to the story.
Reflecting on the project, Ehinome described it as a defining moment in her career. “I’ve told stories in many forms, but bringing this one to the screen is something I’ve dreamed about for years,” she said. “It’s bold, emotional, layered, and rooted in our culture, spirituality, and the truths we often avoid.”
She emphasized that the film sets the tone for the types of stories she intends to continue producing: narratives that feel simple on the surface but carry profound meaning beneath.
Shot in Lagos, Man of Her Dreams promises to offer audiences an introspective look at desire confronted by reality, blending romance, suspense, and cultural nuance.
As Ehinome’s debut production, the film not only reflects her personal vision but also signals a new chapter in Nollywood storytelling, one where actors increasingly take creative control to tell meaningful, resonant stories that challenge and engage audiences alike.
The project heralds a promising future for ME & Co., as Ehinome positions herself as a visionary producer in Nigeria’s evolving film industry.
