Veteran Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, has fired back at critics and social media users circulating rumours that she was arrested by the Nigerian police.
The actress took to her TikTok live session to strongly debunk the claims, describing them as baseless, wicked, and deliberately crafted to mislead the public.
Iyabo, who appeared visibly upset during the live video, said the rumour caused unnecessary panic among her fans and well-wishers.
According to her, several people began calling and sending messages to confirm whether she was truly in police custody, a development she found both frustrating and irresponsible.
The fiery actress did not mince words as she addressed those behind the viral claim. She condemned what she described as a growing trend of individuals fabricating stories online solely to generate engagement, traffic, and financial gain.
Iyabo insisted that such behaviour was harmful because it creates fear and confusion around the people involved.
“To you all rumour mongers that spread fake news about me, it shall not be well with you. Who did they arrest? Your fake news always makes my fans worried, and they start calling to check on me,” she said during the live session.
She further stressed that anyone who wishes her ill is only attracting negativity to themselves. According to her, she is divinely protected and cannot be destroyed by false narratives pushed online.
“You are heaping curses on your head because I am a special being. Anyone that wishes me bad, it will go back to the sender,” she added.
This latest rumour comes at a tense moment, as Iyabo Ojo is currently involved in ongoing legal matters connected to popular online critic, VeryDarkMan. He was recently re-arraigned on allegations of cyberbullying directed at Iyabo, actress Tonto Dikeh, and several others.
Iyabo believes his constant online attacks have contributed to the spread of misleading stories about her.
She also addressed another circulating rumour linking her to a so-called secret WhatsApp group created after the death of singer Mohbad.
VeryDarkMan had insinuated that the group was suspicious and hidden from the public. Iyabo dismissed this narrative as another attempt to twist facts.
According to her, the group was strictly formed to coordinate efforts demanding justice for Mohbad. She explained that the group members collectively pushed for the investigation into his death, supported the call to exhume his body for autopsy, and sought proper procedures for his burial and legal follow-up.
Iyabo clarified that throughout the process, she acted as a witness and not as someone instigating criminal action against anyone.
The actress maintained that transparency has always guided her involvement in the case and urged the public not to fall for misleading information being circulated online.
With her latest outburst, Iyabo Ojo has made it clear that she will no longer entertain false reports about her. She encouraged fans to rely only on her direct statements and avoid platforms that spread sensational or unverified claims.
