Social media activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has narrated in detail what led to the heated physical confrontation between him and media personality Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, popularly called Mr Jollof, onboard a commercial flight. The duo, who have been embroiled in a long-running online feud, finally came face-to-face on a trip that quickly spiraled into chaos.
VDM, in a video he shared shortly after the plane landed, explained that the clash did not erupt out of nowhere but was the result of weeks of rising tension and hostile exchanges on social media. According to him, the animosity between both men had built up considerably, and meeting unexpectedly on the same flight intensified the charged atmosphere.
He said that upon sighting Mr Jollof on the aircraft, he made a provocative remark referencing their past disagreements, telling him, “Today, you will slap me,” a statement he claimed was tied directly to the online confrontations they had been engaged in. VDM suggested that his remark was meant to test whether Mr Jollof would carry the same energy he displayed on the internet into a real-life encounter.
To further express his version of events, VDM posted on Instagram after the incident, writing: “MR JOLLOF YOU B!T me,your fellow man haba JOLLOF WOULD HAVE KPAI ME IF I DIDNT DEFEND MYSELF,GOD SAVED ME.” The message suggested that he believed the situation could have escalated into something far more dangerous had he not reacted defensively.
VDM recounted that the altercation officially began when Mr Jollof allegedly threw the first punch. He claimed that he instinctively defended himself by striking back, and from there, the situation rapidly deteriorated. The tension on the plane intensified as the two men engaged one another physically, prompting alarm from passengers who witnessed the confrontation.
According to VDM, the fight became even more chaotic when Mr Jollof allegedly bit him during the scuffle. He joked that the bite was so intense that it almost ruined his tattoo, adding a humorous yet critical remark about Mr Jollof’s oral hygiene by saying the teeth “had not been brushed.” Despite attempting to lighten the tone while recounting the incident, it was clear the activist considered the bite a serious and unexpected escalation.
Passengers seated close to both men reportedly rushed to intervene, attempting to separate them and calm the situation before it worsened. The confrontation drew attention across the cabin as travelers tried to understand what had prompted such an explosive outburst between two well-known personalities.
As of the time of reporting, Mr Jollof has not issued any formal public statement regarding the mid-air clash. The airline involved has also remained silent, offering no comment on the incident, possible investigations, or whether any disciplinary actions will follow.
VDM’s detailed account marks the first comprehensive explanation from either party involved. While the incident has sparked widespread conversation online, observers are waiting to see whether Mr Jollof will share his own version of events or if the airline will address the matter officially.
