Nigerian singer and producer, Gabriel Oche Amanyi, popularly known as Terry G, has stirred a new wave of reactions online after claiming that the devil gave him success in his music career.
The controversial musician made this statement while addressing the recent rumours about his alleged death that flooded social media earlier this week.
Terry G, known for his eccentric personality and unpredictable behaviour, took to his Instagram page in a now-deleted video to clear the air, urging fans to stop spreading false news about his death.
Speaking in pidgin English, the “Free Madness” crooner said: “How una dey my people? Social media, ma pami now.
My phone has been buzzing since morning. People have been calling to check on me that they saw something online about my R.I.P, saying Terry G don die. I beg ooo, whoever is trending that news should stop. I’m doing very fine, please stop that. I beg you in the name of God.”
Beyond clearing up the death rumour, Terry G also used the opportunity to react to the controversy surrounding his earlier comments on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he declared, “I sing for the devil.
I’m falling short of the glory of God.” That remark had triggered massive backlash, with many accusing him of blasphemy and misleading his fans.
In his new video, however, the singer did not back down but instead doubled down on his statement, confirming that his rise to fame was influenced by dark forces.
“There’s another one trending about me serving the devil. Una no know before? Una no know say na the devil I dey serve? Yes na devil I dey serve. Na devil make me blow,” Terry G boldly said, leaving fans stunned.
The video quickly went viral across social media platforms, with many Nigerians expressing mixed reactions.
While some dismissed his comments as sarcasm or a publicity stunt, others found his words troubling and urged him to seek spiritual help.
Terry G’s latest remarks add to his long history of controversial moments in the Nigerian entertainment scene.
Over the years, the singer has been known for his wild stage performances, unfiltered interviews, and erratic lifestyle. Once regarded as one of the most influential figures in Nigeria’s street-hop movement, Terry G ruled the late 2000s with chart-topping hits like “Free Madness,” “Akpako Master,” and “Run Mad.”
Despite his undeniable talent and influence, the singer has often been surrounded by controversy from claims of drug use to spiritual battles and industry feuds.
Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time Terry G has spoken openly about spiritual matters. In a past interview, he hinted at struggling with fame and the price of success, suggesting that not all that glitters in the entertainment industry comes from divine inspiration.
As the new clip continues to trend, many fans have called for prayers for the artist, while others question whether he was being literal or simply speaking metaphorically about the dark side of fame.
Regardless of public opinion, Terry G’s latest outburst has once again placed him at the centre of public discourse, proving that even years after his peak, he still knows how to get Nigerians talking.
