Veteran Nigerian singer Jazzman Olofin has addressed long-standing assumptions surrounding his hit single Raise da Roof, firmly stating that the track was never a remake of Chief Adewale Ayuba’s classic Bubble.

In a message shared on his social media page, Jazzman said he felt compelled to correct the narrative so that music lovers—especially younger Nigerians—are not misled about the song’s origins or past interviews.

According to him, the confusion largely stems from Ayuba’s contribution to the collaboration. Jazzman explained that Ayuba infused the famous line “It’s bubbling ko maa bubble” from his earlier album Bubble when he featured on the track, a move that later fueled the widespread belief that Raise da Roof sampled or remixed the Fuji icon’s earlier hit.

Jazzman clarified that he was the main creative force behind the project. He noted that he composed the majority of the song, saying he wrote the chorus (except the borrowed line), as well as the opening two verses, while Ayuba co-created his own verse.

He also revealed that this wasn’t their first artistic partnership. Jazzman said he had previously written another song intended for his own album, but Ayuba liked it so much that it ended up on the Fuji star’s album Gun Shot, with Jazzman and Lexzy Doo of the former duo X-Appeal also appearing on the track.

“Most people don’t know, but I actually entered the game first as a songwriter. Singing came later,” Jazzman said.

He added: “I invited Chief Adewale Ayuba to feature on Raise da Roof, and he decided to add the line from Bubble. The rest of the chorus was written by me. I wrote the first and second verses, and Ayuba co-wrote his verse.”

Jazzman emphasized that setting the record straight was important to ensure proper credit and to preserve the real story behind the creation of one of his most celebrated hits.
