Popular Nigerian TikToker Habeeb Hamzat, widely known by his stage name Peller, has stirred social media reactions after revealing that some well-known celebrities secretly beg him for money despite their public image of wealth and success.
During a recent live streaming session, the content creator shared his experience, pointing out the disconnect between online popularity and real-life financial stability. According to him, the idea that a large number of followers automatically translates to financial success is one of the biggest misconceptions on social media.
Peller, who is known for his frequent cash giveaways on Instagram and TikTok, said that on several occasions, he has been surprised to find that some celebrities join the crowd of fans in his inbox, pleading for a share of his giveaways. He claimed that these individuals, who appear wealthy online, privately reach out to him whenever he announces such events.
“The way God did my life, I love it. It is not everyone that is posting or have followers that have money in the bank or something to eat,” he explained during the live session. “If I am doing giveaway on Instagram or some other platforms, do you believe that some celebrities text me asking for money?”
Peller expressed disbelief at the situation, emphasizing how unexpected it was for public figures who portray luxury lifestyles online to secretly ask him for financial help. He said the experience has opened his eyes to the reality that many people in the entertainment industry live fake lives for social media validation.
“I am usually surprised about it,” he continued. “I will be doing giveaway for fans, you as a celebrity would still want to collect out of it. Are you crazy? I saw your messages but I intentionally did not reply.”
He noted that while he prefers not to mention names, the behaviour of such individuals proves that social media can be deceptive. Many users, he warned, should stop comparing themselves to their favourite celebrities because what they see online is often far from the truth.
Peller’s revelation has since sparked conversations online, with fans divided over his decision to expose the trend. Some commended him for speaking the truth about the financial struggles hidden behind fame, while others criticized him for indirectly shaming his colleagues in the entertainment space.
This latest statement from the TikTok star comes shortly after his public fallout with his girlfriend and fellow content creator, Jarvis. Their relationship drama has played out on social media in recent weeks, with both parties trading accusations.
Last week, Peller accused Jarvis of being involved in a form of “money laundering” through her TikTok livestreams — an allegation that quickly went viral. Jarvis, however, has strongly denied the claim, warning Peller to retract his statement or face legal consequences.
The ongoing controversy has placed Peller at the center of public attention, and his latest revelation about “broke celebrities” secretly begging for money has only added more fuel to his already trending name in the Nigerian social media space.
