Nigerian singer Omah Lay has raised concerns over the country’s deteriorating security situation, declaring that prayers alone can no longer guarantee safety. His reaction followed a string of violent incidents that have left many Nigerians alarmed and frustrated.

The music star took to his X page on Wednesday to express his worry about the continuous attacks and loss of innocent lives.

In an emotional post, he stated that Nigerians must confront the reality of the nation’s crisis instead of relying solely on faith or religious sentiments. His message, which quickly went viral, read: “NO JESUS, NO ALLAH, NO PRAYER IS SAVING US. NOTHING CHANGES UNTIL WE WAKE TF UP.”

Omah Lay’s statement comes in the wake of several tragic events that have thrown the country into mourning.

These include the shocking attack on a church in Kwara State, where gunmen stormed the premises during a worship service, causing panic and leaving multiple casualties.

Additionally, the nation is still grappling with the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi, another incident that has intensified public anger and renewed calls for stronger security measures.

The singer, who has previously mentioned his belief in God but also emphasized that he does not fully subscribe to organized religion, urged citizens to understand that spiritual declarations alone will not stop the killings or improve the country.

According to him, Nigeria needs urgent action, accountability, and collective responsibility from both leaders and the public.

Many Nigerians have since reacted to his post, with some agreeing that the country must adopt practical solutions rather than depend solely on faith-based responses.

Others argued that prayer remains important but must be coupled with active efforts to fix Nigeria’s long-standing problems, including insecurity, corruption, and poor governance.

Omah Lay’s post has added to the growing chorus of voices demanding immediate reforms and tougher action from authorities. For many, his message reflects the frustration of young Nigerians who feel helpless amid worsening violence across communities, roads, schools, and places of worship.

The singer’s comments also reignited conversations about the role of influential public figures in national discourse. Some fans praised him for speaking out at a time when many celebrities prefer to stay silent on sensitive issues.

Others encouraged entertainers and cultural voices to continue amplifying the concerns of everyday Nigerians who struggle to cope with rising insecurity.

As the country continues to battle daily reports of kidnappings, killings, and attacks, Omah Lay’s statement resonates as a stark reminder that Nigerians are desperate for a more proactive, solution-driven approach.

His message underscores the growing belief that while faith plays a role in the nation’s fabric, genuine change will only occur when leaders and citizens collectively take responsibility for rebuilding the country.
