Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has issued a strong declaration, insisting that Nigeria will never bow to extremist ideology or become an Islamic state.

The cleric made the remark while addressing worshippers during a recent church service, where he condemned the increasing spate of violent attacks and kidnappings across the country.

Oyedepo expressed deep concern over the rising insecurity, especially the targeted attacks on Christian communities.

He referenced a recent incident in which five worshippers were reportedly killed and 35 others kidnapped, with the abductors demanding a ransom of N100 million.

He lamented that such acts of terror continue to traumatise innocent citizens, disrupt families, and challenge the peace of the nation.

In his message, the influential cleric maintained that the Church remains unshaken despite the pressure. According to him, Christians in Nigeria have survived several waves of religious intimidation in the past and will continue to stand firm. He urged members not to succumb to fear but to remain prayerful, vigilant and united.

The fiery preacher invoked curses on the perpetrators of the attacks, declaring that divine judgment would descend on them and their sponsors.

He stressed that God would intervene in Nigeria’s security crisis and bring embarrassment upon those responsible for bloodshed.

His words: “Nigeria will never become an Islamic state. The church of Christ in Nigeria is indestructible. Every perpetrator and their sponsors come under a curse today. In the camp of the wicked, there shall be catastrophe.”

Oyedepo also reiterated his long-standing position on religious expressions in mission schools, noting that practices such as wearing hijabs should not be imposed in Christian-owned institutions.

His comment aligns with his earlier criticisms on the subject, which have repeatedly sparked national debate.

The renowned preacher said the country is too diverse to be forced into a singular religious direction, adding that any attempt to do so would fail.

He encouraged Christians to keep praying for the nation and to trust that God would expose those fueling insecurity.

According to him, the power of collective prayer remains the strongest weapon the Church has against evil forces destabilising the country. He assured the congregation that divine intervention is imminent, insisting that “God will rise for Nigeria.”

Oyedepo’s comment adds to the ongoing conversation surrounding insecurity, religious tensions and the future of peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.

Many Nigerians, particularly Christian communities, continue to express fear over repeated attacks, prompting calls for stronger government action.

His declaration has since generated reactions across social media platforms, with many agreeing with his message of resilience, while others called for more practical efforts from religious leaders in supporting national unity.

The Bishop concluded by encouraging Nigerians to anchor their hope on God and to remain steadfast in faith despite the fearful events happening across several regions.
