Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding his marriage to actress Regina Daniels, Nigerian politician Senator Ned Nwoko appears to be shifting his focus toward his children. The Delta State lawmaker recently shared a heartwarming video on Instagram capturing moments he spent bonding with his kids at the grand finale of the Senate President’s U-18 Unity Football Championship, Renewed Hope Edition.
In the clip, Nwoko is seen enjoying the sporting event alongside his children, emphasizing the value of nurturing young talents and promoting grassroots sports. He explained that the outing was not just recreational but also an opportunity to teach his children the importance of supporting youth development. “We had an exciting afternoon at the Grand Finale of the Senate President’s U-18 Unity Football Championship, Renewed Hope Edition. I was there with my children to support our young talents and to reinforce the importance of grassroots sports development. The passion and skills we witnessed on the field remind us that these young players are truly the pride of our nation,” he wrote.
However, the video quickly triggered a wave of mixed reactions online, with some social media users interpreting the family outing as an attempt to project stability amid his marital crisis with Regina. Several commenters suggested that the senator was being forced into a more hands-on parenting role. Among the reactions were statements such as, “Omg Regina don turn Senator to single father,” and “23-year-old girl give you assignment.” Another user remarked, “Single father, well done sir,” while someone else teased, “Lolz, trying so hard to…” Another commenter simply added, “He is fit thou.”
This is not the first time in recent days that Nwoko has showcased family-themed content. Just a week earlier, he posted another video featuring all his children, including the two he shares with Regina, participating in sports activities. In that post, he reflected on the value of staying active as a family, saying the moments helped strengthen their bond and allowed him to lead by example.
The tension between the senator and his actress wife escalated further after Nwoko revealed in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that he wanted Regina to undergo rehabilitation. He claimed that his concern stemmed from a desire for her to remain alive and healthy, not just for herself but for their children. According to him, Regina needed to raise their kids in a “sane and healthy environment.” He accused her siblings and close friends of obstructing the rehabilitation process and enabling her alleged drug use.
He expanded on these claims in a public statement, alleging that Regina’s siblings and industry colleagues—including individuals like Sonia and Uche Montana—frequently visited their home uninvited. He said they would often force their way in and bring Regina the very substances she was supposed to be recovering from, directly undermining the attempt to get her help.
Regina, however, fired back with strong accusations of her own. In her response, she called out the irony in Nwoko’s demand for her to seek rehabilitation, claiming that he had always encouraged her drug use because he believed it made her appear “sexier, wild and romantic.” She did not stop there. She accused the senator of repeatedly forcing himself on her, detaining her against her will, confiscating her phones, and labeling her mentally unstable whenever she attempted to walk away from the marriage.
As both sides continue to publicly present conflicting accounts of their troubled relationship, Nwoko’s recent display of fatherhood appears to be part of a broader effort to portray family stability. Meanwhile, the online community remains sharply divided, with many waiting to see how the unfolding marital crisis will resolve in the coming weeks.
