Nollywood actress Omowumi Wahab has spoken out in a deeply emotional revelation about the physical and psychological abuse she allegedly suffered during her marriage.
In a recent interview, the actress recounted how her husband’s extreme jealousy and lack of trust pushed their marriage to its breaking point, ultimately forcing her to walk away for her safety and peace of mind.
According to Wahab, the foundation of their marital problems rested solely on her husband’s constant suspicion and unfounded accusations. She explained that the situation worsened whenever a new male tenant moved into their compound, as her husband immediately believed the man was there because of her. This toxic belief, she revealed, triggered repeated episodes of violence.
Describing the horrifying incidents, Omowumi Wahab stated:
“My husband's lack of trust in me led to his usual physical attaacks against me. Whenever a man rented an apartment in our compound, my husband would say that the man rented the house because of me, and he beaat me a lot.”
The actress narrated one of the most traumatic experiences in her marriage — an incident that happened during a movie shoot near their home. She had been invited to a movie location by a fellow actor and decided to go quietly after her husband had stepped out. However, things took a shocking turn when the commercial bike rider who transported her also brought her husband to the set moments later.
Omowumi continued:
“An actor invited me to a movie location, and I sneaked out of the house when my husband had gone out… The bike man that took me to the movie location brought my husband to the movie location as well. My husband came to the movie set to beaat me up, and he tore my clothes in public.”
She emphasized that despite all his accusations, she remained loyal and never had any affair, saying:
“I didn't have an affair with any man at the time because I was very loyal to him.”
Her story adds to the growing conversations around domestic violence in the entertainment industry, urging society to continue speaking up for victims who suffer in silence.
