Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has issued a firm response to her colleague Taye Arimoro, following his N100 million lawsuit filed against her. In a detailed legal reaction released through her counsel, the wife of actor Frederick Leonard strongly denied all accusations, describing Taye’s claims as “misleading, selective and materially false.” She maintained that the filmmaker is attempting to “twist the entire incident” to suit his narrative.
According to Peggy’s legal team, trouble allegedly began when Taye was instructed to return to the movie set. Instead of complying, he reportedly engaged in a heated confrontation with crew members. The legal response states that Taye physically assaulted the Production Manager, Luke Obayi, before allegedly head-butting Peggy’s driver, Joshua Madu, which purportedly left the driver bleeding from the ear and nose.
Eyewitnesses at the production location were said to have submitted written statements to the police, corroborating claims of Taye’s aggressive and violent behaviour. Peggy’s lawyer emphasized that these accounts further undermine his lawsuit, which accuses the actress of assault and defamation.
The legal response also addressed allegations that Peggy attacked Taye. Her team insisted that the actress “never assaulted him,” explaining that the only physical contact occurred when she “pushed him lightly after he allegedly attempted to deflate her tyres.” They argued that any effort by crew members to restrain Taye was not an attack but a necessary attempt to prevent him from fleeing the scene before the police arrived.
Peggy Ovire’s camp described Taye’s suit as an attempt to distract from his own actions and shift the blame after causing chaos on set. The actress is reportedly fully prepared to defend herself and said the truth will be established through witness testimonies and police findings.
