Comedian and content creator, Zicsaloma, has stirred conversations on social media after advising men to prioritize financial stability before considering marriage.

According to him, love alone is not enough to sustain a home, especially in today’s demanding economic climate.

Zicsaloma made the statement in a post shared on Instagram, where he explained that marriage requires responsibility, and any man who is not financially grounded may struggle to meet the basic needs of his wife and children.

He noted that societal pressure, family expectations, or cultural demands should never push a man into marriage when he is not mentally and financially prepared for the commitment.

Speaking from personal experience, the comedian revealed that even though he is financially stable, he still does not feel ready for marriage.

He explained that he has a certain standard of living he intends to maintain, not just for himself but also for his future wife and children. According to him, marriage comes with a long list of responsibilities, and every man must honestly assess his readiness before taking the step.

“I remember my mom calling me on my 34th birthday, asking when I would get married,” he wrote. “Even though I’m financially stable, I still feel I’m not ready because there’s a kind of life I want to give myself, my children, and my wife.”

Zicsaloma also shared the story of a close friend who rushed into marriage believing that blessings would automatically follow.

According to him, the man got married with little preparation and later welcomed a child, but soon became financially overwhelmed. Zicsaloma said he found himself constantly supporting the friend until he eventually had to distance himself because the man showed little effort toward becoming responsible.

“He sent me an invitation saying he wanted to get married, claiming marriage brings blessings. Soon after, he told me his wife was pregnant.

I took on the responsibility, but at some point, I had to block him because he wasn’t ready to be responsible as a family man,” he said.

The comedian emphasized that financial readiness is not about being wealthy but about having a stable income, useful skills, and the discipline needed to provide for a household.

He particularly addressed Gen Z men, urging them to learn skills early, build capacity, and make conscious plans for the future. According to him, the desire for a comfortable and peaceful married life must be backed with adequate preparation.

His statement has since sparked discussions across social media platforms, with many Nigerians agreeing that marriage without financial stability leads to avoidable pressure and conflict. Others, however, argue that couples can grow together financially if they have mutual understanding, patience, and shared goals.

Zicsaloma’s message adds to an ongoing national conversation about the rising cost of living, the responsibilities of modern marriage, and the importance of financial literacy for young adults.
