The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has celebrated the achievement of London-based Nigerian content creator Bemi Orojogun, popularly known as London Bus Aunty, following her major win at the 2025 TikTok UK Awards. Orojogun clinched the coveted Video of the Year title, a recognition that highlights her rising influence and creative impact across the United Kingdom.

In a message shared on his official X account, Sadiq Khan applauded the entertainer for her infectious enthusiasm and her unique ability to spotlight London’s iconic red buses in a way that resonates deeply with online audiences. According to the mayor, Bus Aunty’s creativity has earned her admiration from viewers all across the country.

“Congratulations to London’s very own Bus Aunty for winning Video of the Year at the TikTok Awards. Her love of our iconic red buses has captured hearts across the country.

“And did you know? She’s a proud fan of the Bakerloop – London’s newest express bus route,” he wrote.

Orojogun emerged as the winner in a highly competitive category that included notable TikTok creators such as Friends of Elmtree, Sam Morris, Gardiner Brothers, Joseph Machines, and Brad Ben. The category recognises creators whose content stands out for originality, entertainment value, and the ability to connect with TikTok’s vast and diverse community.

Her journey to stardom began in 2024 when she went viral for a creative forced-perspective video, a clip that quickly gained traction and broadened her online following. This success propelled her into the spotlight, transforming her into a recognised digital personality. As her audience grew, major brands began taking note. Orojogun has since collaborated with global fashion leader Burberry, retail giants H&M and MAC Cosmetics, and several London-based organisations.

Her influence also extended into civic projects. She previously partnered with the Mayor of London on campaigns promoting the city’s zero-emission bus initiatives, further cementing her identity as an ambassador of London’s transport culture.

During her acceptance speech at the TikTok UK Awards, Orojogun used the moment to inspire others. She encouraged people, especially those who may doubt themselves or face discouragement, to stay committed to their passions. In her words:

“Don’t allow your age to stop you. Don’t allow your family to say don’t do that, it’s embarrassing. If you love it, do it.”

Her winning video, which has now amassed nearly 50 million views, continues to generate excitement across social media. Many fans, particularly Nigerians, celebrated her achievement with humour and pride, jokingly urging her to try creating similar bus-themed stunts in bustling Nigerian hubs such as Oshodi or CMS—locations known for their chaotic and fast-paced transport scenes.

Orojogun’s victory not only demonstrates her growing relevance in the digital space but also reflects the increasing visibility of Nigerian creators making their mark internationally. Her unique blend of humour, creativity, and cultural pride has positioned her as one of London’s most beloved online personalities.

As congratulatory messages continue to pour in, her story serves as a powerful reminder that originality can open doors, and passion—when pursued with consistency—can lead to extraordinary opportunities. With her latest achievement, London Bus Aunty is set to inspire even more creators across the world.
