Davido’s first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, has spoken out once again about her role in raising their daughter, Imade Adeleke, stressing that she has been the child’s primary caregiver for the past five years.
In a lengthy statement shared on social media, Sophia addressed what she described as “false narratives” being spread online about her daughter’s wellbeing, insisting that she could no longer remain silent.
According to her, she has single-handedly taken responsibility for Imade’s daily needs, except for school fees, which she acknowledged have been handled by Imade’s paternal grandfather.
Sophia said the recent wave of online discussions targeted at her young daughter pushed her to set the record straight.
“I woke up to numerous posts that were intentionally targeted at my lovely daughter and trying to portray a false image of her well-being,” she wrote. “As a fiercely protective mother, my initial reaction was emotional, but I knew that I had to stand up for my child.”
She described Imade as “happy, healthy, and well-rounded,” while emphasising that despite not receiving child support from Davido in recent years, her daughter has never lacked anything. “Our child knows no lack. She is growing in a healthy environment and is very happy,” she said.
Sophia went further to reveal that she recently decided to waive all outstanding child support payments and relinquish any future financial claims.
The move, she explained, was her way of embracing full responsibility for her daughter without relying on anyone.
“This decision has left me fully responsible for our child’s financial needs, which is a welcomed development by both parties,” she added.
Addressing speculation that she had denied Davido access to their daughter, Sophia firmly dismissed the claim. She maintained that she has always prioritised Imade’s safety and structured routine, noting that the singer has never been prevented from seeing his child.
“I have never denied him access,” she stressed, adding that she has only placed boundaries to ensure consistency and emotional stability for Imade.
Sophia also called on the public to avoid dragging her daughter into online drama, describing the recent posts as harmful and unnecessary.
She urged people to channel their energy into more meaningful pursuits rather than involving a minor in social media controversies.
“Moving forward, I kindly request that my innocent child be left out of false narratives and stories,” she wrote. “Let’s channel our energy towards things that are more profitable and healthy.”
Her post has since sparked renewed debate online, with some sympathising with her and others accusing her of keeping the Adeleke family in her narrative.
However, Sophia maintained that her only focus is the wellbeing of her daughter and creating a loving, supportive environment.
The ongoing tensions between both families have lingered for years, with fans often picking sides. But Sophia made it clear that she remains committed to raising Imade with love, structure, and independence regardless of public opinion.
