Israel DMW, a close aide of music star Davido, has reacted to a new revelation by the singer’s first baby mama, Sophia Momodu, regarding their daughter, Imade Adeleke. Sophia recently addressed what she described as misleading narratives about her role as a mother, clarifying that she has been the sole caregiver for Imade for the past five years, handling all her needs aside from school fees.
According to her, she had willingly waived all outstanding child support payments from Davido and relinquished any future financial claims. By doing so, Sophia explained that she had taken full responsibility for Imade’s welfare, emphasizing that being solely responsible for her daughter had brought her peace of mind. She also noted that this arrangement had ultimately been beneficial for both sides.
Sophia’s revelation stirred conversations online, leading Israel DMW to drop a subtle reaction. In the comment section of a blog reporting the story, he wrote, “There’s God o. Hmmmm.” His brief comment immediately drew attention, as many interpreted it as him expressing disbelief or surprise over Sophia’s statement.
Israel’s reaction is significant, as he and Sophia have clashed publicly in the past. Last year, Sophia had sharply criticized Israel after he claimed that a luxurious vacation she took Imade on—specifically a trip to Monaco—was funded by Davido. The assertion infuriated Sophia, who insisted she had not been receiving financial support from the singer and that Israel’s comment downplayed her efforts as a mother. She publicly called him out for spreading misinformation and attributing her hard work to someone who was, at the time, not contributing to their child’s upkeep.
Meanwhile, the relationship between Davido and his daughter has had its own ups and downs. In May, the singer revealed that he had reunited with Imade after a lengthy period apart, sharing heartwarming photos on social media. In his words, the reunion marked “the best day of my life.”
A month later, Davido and Sophia appeared together publicly for the first time in three years during Imade’s 10th birthday celebration. While the former couple maintained considerable distance in photos, many fans saw it as progress given their previously strained relationship.
The custody battle between Davido and Sophia has been well-documented. Last year, Davido filed a lawsuit requesting joint custody of Imade, alleging that Sophia had denied him access and was attempting to extort money from him—claims she firmly denied. In her response, Sophia opposed joint custody, citing concerns about security, emotional well-being, and referencing the tragic loss of Davido’s son, which she said made her uncomfortable with the idea of shared custody.
Tensions between the two escalated after Davido reconciled with his now-wife, Chioma Rowland. Sophia, seemingly upset by the development, shared a cryptic post comparing herself to a cat unwilling to tolerate disrespect from a dog. She later went on a lengthy social media rant accusing Davido of financial manipulation.
Sophia’s recent clarification has added new layers to the ongoing co-parenting narrative, while Israel DMW’s reaction suggests that the public conversation surrounding the matter is far from over.
